At Valor Metal Detecting, our mission extends beyond uncovering relics—we strive to empower veterans through education, training, and community support in the field of metal detecting. Whether you are located in North Carolina or across the country, our programs are designed to connect veterans with a sense of purpose, camaraderie, and historical exploration.

We believe that metal detecting is more than a hobby—it’s a powerful tool for healing and personal growth. That’s why we provide training for veterans and active-duty service members, teaching them the skills needed to become proficient metal detectorists.

  • Metal Detecting Basics: Learn how to operate metal detecting equipment, identify target signals, and recover finds responsibly.

  • Research Techniques: Master the art of historical research by studying old maps, land records, and military encampments to pinpoint potential detecting sites.

  • Artifact Identification: Discover how to accurately identify and document relics, from Civil War buttons to colonial coins.

  • Responsible Detecting: Understand the ethical guidelines of metal detecting, including permissions, reporting, and preserving historical artifacts.

Building a Network: Satellite Groups for Support

While Valor Metal Detecting is based in North Carolina, our goal is to extend our mission across the nation through satellite groups. These groups, composed of veterans helping veterans, are designed to foster a sense of brotherhood and sisterhood regardless of location.

  • Join or Start a Group: If you're a veteran with a passion for metal detecting, you can join an existing satellite group or start one in your area with our guidance.

  • Online Support and Training: We provide remote training sessions, research resources, and detecting tips for veterans located far away.

  • Mentorship Program: Experienced detectorists can mentor new members, sharing knowledge and fostering connections that transcend geographic boundaries.

Our strategic alliance with MD4V.org enhances our mission to empower veterans nationwide. MD4V focuses on providing veterans with opportunities to engage in metal detecting as a therapeutic activity, organizing group outings, providing equipment, and building a community of support and camaraderie.

Together, Valor Metal Detecting and MD4V aim to expand outreach, strengthen satellite groups, and provide veterans with both local and remote support in their metal detecting journey.
